Headphones help. WASD and the mouse to move and look, E to use, talk or chalk, F for the flashlight, R to drink, Shift to run. A gamepad and touch also work. Every key can be remapped.

Accessibility: captions, remappable keys, text size, high contrast, a plain typeface, reduced motion, and a "no sudden scares" mode.

Seven of them are out here. Each one was a woman once, and the place made her body out of the thing she feared most...

• The Follower repeats your last word and follows your steps. A total hypocrite when it comes to personal space.

• The Watcher can only speak in clips cut from late-night TV. She hates channel surfers who can't decide on what to watch.

• The Doe never speaks. She answers with touch. Like a deer caught in flickering-headlights.

• The Maw is so hungry her words come out chewed. She lives for the thrill of the chase, but is easily tricked.

• The Widow lives in the ceiling. Don't look up... and wait for a chance to "knock" her down.

• The Bride drowned on her wedding day, trying her best to stay wet. Her hearts' been broken once, try not to lead her on too long.

• The Mimic is a door, a water cooler, a coat rack. She hates being the center of attention.
