The world of Eorþe is controlled by the six Great Families. With wealth and magic far beyond the rest of society, they compete, conspire, and collude in their endless jockeying for position. But all have come to acknowledge a devastating truth.

Magic is dying.

Where once every human, elf, and orran could wield magic, now only half of those born to the Great Families develop the ability. Outside the Families the percentage drops significantly.

The mage Rane lives in hiding, shunning the pressures and scrutiny that come with life among Eorþe's elite. But a new threat has emerged, and Rane's old mentor, Cymhen Grym, comes calling.

Experience a new world through Rane as he returns to the life, and loved ones, he left behind. New faces await him, too, each with their own trials and tribulations brought on by life among the Families. With enough care and support, perhaps something beautiful will grow.

Now that the dramatic description is done, what is TNoM really about? The titular quest, obviously, but also 'found family', support, and acceptance. Expect some laughs and some tears (hopefully, more of the happy kind) and no small of amount of romance and intimacy. And, yes, there will be unprotected hand-holding.
